How To Tie a Women's Obi - Hanhaba Obi


*There are many ways to tie the Hanhaba Obi. This is the most basic way to tie the Obi.

1. Take about 16" from one Obi end and fold it in half. Hold this end on your left. This part is called Tesaki. Hole the other side called taresaki on your right.

2. While holding Tesaki, wrap the Obi around the waist 2 times.

3. Fold the Taresaki to make a triangle shape. It should be narrower towards left.

4. Tie Tesaki and Taresaki together. Make sure to tie the way which the Tesaki will come up.

5. Bring Tesaki to the upper center and bring Taresaki to the lower center. Make the vertical line.

6. Open up the Taresaki.

7. Bring the Taresaki from the center to the right and fold to front.

8. Decide the Bow (Ribbon) length and fold
in the rest.

9. Hold the center of the Folded Obi and make a ribbon shape.

10. Bring down the Tesaki over the folded Taresaki. Slide the Tesaki underneath the
Taresaki in the center.

11. Pull up the Tesaki behind the Taresaki.

12. Roll up the Tesaki end towards you.

13. Insert the rolled up Tesaki behind Obi. Fix the Ribbon shape.

14. While inhaling, move the towards
the back (clockwise) .
